As of December 2025, upcoming workshops are scheduled at PortFiber in Portland, ME and the Ticonic Gallery + Studios in Waterville, ME. There may be a few more workshops added in January/February, and a full class schedule will resume in May.
If there’s anything I enjoy more than creating with my own hands, it’s helping others experience the magic of making beautiful, functional objects. Using primarily natural materials, simple hand tools, and some broomsquire tricks of the trade, even first-time students can make a whisk broom start to finish during an introductory three-hour class. I teach regularly at Handiwork and PortFiber in Portland, ME, as well as at the Sabbathday Lake Shaker Village in New Gloucester, ME.
If you are interested in hosting broom-making classes in your store, gallery, or museum, please get in touch. I can also teach private group classes in your home or another space you provide. For more details, please email RedmondPhilbert@gmail.com.
