Cobwebbers

Cobweb brooms are a traditional style rarely seen in the modern world, which is unfortunate because they are incredibly useful. With the full length of untrimmed broomcorn stalks tied onto a broomstick, cobwebbers are long and skinny, allowing them to get into the rafters, high corners, and any other nooks and crannies where spiders build their webs. They’re also super useful for getting low under baseboard heaters or in the cracks between appliances. If your cat likes to hide things under the refrigerator, this is the broom for you!

Cobwebbers are made from untrimmed broomcorn stalks, sometimes called craft broomcorn or nurl. The stalks are attached to the broomstick and typically woven. Rather than weaving, I sometimes attach the stalks with tightly wrapped bands, which creates an hourglass or corseted look. Cobweb brooms are stitched without using a stitching clamp, which helps gather the fibers together without flattening the shape of the broom.
